Website: http://www.sdstate.edu

South Dakota State University is South Dakota's largest and most comprehensive university, offering degrees at the associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Founded in 1881, SDSU is the state's only land-grant institution, serving the people of the state through academic programs, research and extension.

SDSU offers the greatest selection of academic programs in the state with more than 200 majors, minors and specializations offered in seven colleges: Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Services, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, and General Studies and Outreach Programs. The university has remained continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since 1916.

SDSU is located in Brookings, a progressive, friendly community that provides students in a safe, comfortable environment. A wide variety of athletic, social and cultural activities are available on campus and in the community, including the South Dakota Art Museum and SDSU Jackrabbit Division I athletics. The Performing Arts Center, a new engineering complex, a new residence hall, Student Union expansion, and state-of-the-art Wellness Center are recent additions to the already excellent facilities at SDSU, with additional residence halls, academic and athletic facilities currently under construction.

SDSU provides students with access to classes offered via various distance education technologies, including interactive television, satellite, Internet, and videotape. Under the Carnegie Classification System, SDSU is a Doctoral/Research University - Intensive. U.S. News & World Report recognized SDSU for five years as a "top 10 public university" and as the "most efficient" university in the Midwest. In recent rankings, SDSU was placed in "national universities - doctoral: third tier." This ranking serves as national recognition of what our students have known all along: SDSU offers an exceptional education at an affordable price.
