University of Hawaii West Oahu

The University of Hawaii - West O‘ahu was founded in 1976 as a comprehensive university with an emphasis on baccalaureate education, and is the most recent addition to the 10 campus UH system. The programs of the University are designed to be responsive to the needs of our students with our faculty engaging in three basic types of activities: teaching, research, and service. Our staff and faculty are dedicated to the needs of students in the pursuit of their educational and professional goals through a curriculum emphasizing the humanities, social sciences and selected professional programs. The University’s curriculum offerings are founded on the principle that career training, the humanities, and social sciences are complementary.

In fall of 2012, the University opened its state of-art, sustainable campus in the city of Kapolei, on the leeward coast of the island of O‘ahu. The expanded capacity allows UH West O‘ahu to serve both regional and statewide educational needs, while also providing an environment for students and faculty to embark on a journey of discovery that improves the quality of life for our citizens.

The unique development plan of the 500 acre property includes the 104 acres for the university campus, 110 acres for future student housing and campus expansion, and 286 acres designed for private development. Since there is currently no student housing on campus, students are commuting from home or renting rooms or apartments in the area.

UH West O‘ahu is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Bachelor of Applied Science programs with concentrations in Computing, Electronics and Networking Technology, Culinary Management, Information Security and Assurance, Information Technology, and Respiratory Care are restricted from WUE eligibility.
